I am starting to notice that tiny houses are not as affordable as they seem when you look at the monthly lot fees. In many communities these rentals cost 800 dollars or more which is almost the same price as a monthly mortgage payment. It feels discouraging to pay that much for a piece of land you will never own because the rent will likely keep going up over time. The savings from living tiny seem to depend mostly on where you live rather than the house itself. I am looking for creative ways to make this lifestyle actually save money in the long run. And I want to hear from people who have found cheaper land options or legal ways to avoid these high community fees.
