I'm poking around to see what people think about Tiny Home living these days and I'll post a series of threads about the current trend.

First I see is the increase in "Off-Grid Living"
It appears that more and more folks are going fully off-grid these days. With the rising cost in electricity, water, and gas, this trend is now becoming popular and mostly people are moving to areas where cost of living is cheaper.

Some are using solar power, rainwater systems, and composting toilets as well.

This gives total independence, lower bills (most important), and the feeling of self-sufficiency, especially if you start gardening around the home, but the maintenance can be a bit tricky, and setup costs for solar and water systems can sting at first and will require bigger initial cash out, but I think overall, it's a good option.

What do you think of this new trend?

I think the tiny homes are neat. I would like one but I'd need a storage building for some things.
I do have a couple of battery banks and solar while in an apartment, these are for my someday tiny/small home.

I also think that the placement of windows and having them able to open at the top and at the bottom. That way the air flow works on a hot day. An old southern way to live without air conditioning. Then having a porch where the north light comes in, but the summer sun is shaded.

It's like going back to the old ways when things are free from nature. Rain for water. Sun to dry clothes. Firewood to heat the home and cook... But in a modern way. So much more flexibility now.
