I stream this show on Pluto TV but it is also available on Youtube. They travel around the country showing peoples Tiny Homes showing their unique innovations. Wanted to mention this for those who may not know about it.

Anyone here ever watch it ?

Do I ever? It's probably the reaons why I'm so hyped about pocket sized homes. What's your favorite episode? Mine is the one with the solar powered studio. Imagine being off grid and not having to worry about anything. Does it get any better than that?

Glad to hear someone else does. =)

I was interested in those showing International Shipping Containers. Using it as a home based business. (season 1 episode 4) I agree that setting it up like the studio/off grid could lend itself to the ISC build. That would be the best of both worlds for me.

I was watching an episode of "Modern Marvels" with the title "Truck Stops" where in the show they looked at extended cab/living quarters on the big rigs. Basically a "Tiny Home" on a semi. One rig was driven by a woman and hers had a shower/toilet and a simulated "fire place" (like you may have seen at fast food places like Wendy's)

This is an example of the over sized "sleeper" Tiny Home that was shown. These cost up to $70K and have an onboard diesel generator for power. Drivers interviewed spoke of going on the road for three months at a time and living out of the rig....just like an RV. One big issue for the Truckers is not being allowed to idle their engine thru the night as they sleep so that they can have air conditioning. This prevents tons and tons of carbon pollution being pumped into the air.

Remember, these are commercial trucks/business vehicles. Thus they are "Capital Equipment" so the cost can be written off over five years as a "cost of business". Then they may continue to be used for some years afterward or sold.

After WWll the Government had Tiny Homes made for returning Vets who were going to various Colleges around the USA. This is a photo of some of them on my local College from 1945. The ones I saw as a kid were painted a flat grass green color. These were used thru the post Korean war era and then sold off to people who used them for hunting or fishing cabins on tracts of land that they owned. I think they were made by US Steel. These homes were generally the accommodation for married couples.

Later after the Korean war a company "Lustron" made these "enameled" steel homes that weren't very large. Sort of starter homes. There were many "Gas Stations" in that time built similarly of enameled metal.

I contacted my local University today to see if they knew anything about the Tiny Homes (image below the Truck). Although they couldn't answer my question about the manufacturer of those units, they were able to give me some information that may be interesting to view here. It seems that just after WWll there was considerable interest in housing for returning veterans. Just as we are having issues today with homeless people.

I spoke with several people on the phone at the University from secretaries to archivist and all were familiar with the interest in Tiny Homes today. Some indicated that they were looking to liquidate loads of their belongings and consider owning a tiny home. (if they only knew how to go about it)

So here are a couple of info packed links I received in email:

I looked into those fold out homes. Great concept..... and the price is attractive. I read reviews stating leaking. Most of the reviews struck me as possibly fake. And i backed off

LOL, yeah there are those with nothing better to do than troll social media post & trends. You see that everywhere you go anymore especially with user reviews.

I'm sure in driving rains there may be the potential for a leak but the same could even happen with a house.

Might go watch a few episodes over the weekend.
