THOW registration question for Michigan property

My parents and I went in together on a piece of land near Traverse City, MI, and I'm ordering a 20' tiny home on wheels to use as a family vacation spot. It's being built to RVIA standards and will never leave the property once it's delivered. Do I need to register it at all if it's not going to be on the road? I'd like to get it insured since we plan to rent it out on weekends when we're not there.

You likely won't need to register the THOW with the Michigan SOS for road use since it's staying put, but you absolutely still need to get the Certificate of Title to prove ownership. I think the bigger issue will be local zoning in the Traverse City area. Even though it's staying put, you still need to make sure you get the proper ownership paperwork from the builder. Focus on getting the Certificate of Title and the MSO. You'll need both of those to prove legal ownership, get any kind of insurance, and file it properly with the county property records if required. No title means no insurance and no proof that you own the structure!
