Simple life in a 200 sq ft farmhouse

I have been noticing that most people here live in big houses that depend completely on outside power, but I think we can all challenge ourselves on how much space we truly need.

I spent years sailing and a sailboat is the perfect lesson in efficient, small-space design. So I planned my two hundred square foot farmhouse the same way. The small space holds a charming bedroom, a living room with a kitchen and couch, and a foyer with plenty of storage shelves. We even hosted eight people for dinner a few weeks ago using an expandable table and three people lived here comfortably for nearly a week when we were building our sheds. My house is completely off-grid and has no plumbing or electricity since the sauna handles bathing and laundry and we use an outhouse. We use kerosene lamps and a wood stove, and for nine months of the year, I just open the foyer door to use the outside temperature as a fridge.
