Tiny home on a 24' camper frame

Licensed general contractor here and planning to build a tiny home on a 24' camper frame, but ive never built on a metal trailer before. I'm unsure if the frame needs reinforcement or where to source the right materials for the job. Any advice, resources or guidance would be really appreciated!!

Last year, I constructed a 20-foot tiny home on a utility trailer, and it was my first experience working with a metal frame. You'll definitely want to add some reinforcement, particularly around the edges and above the axles. If the spacing seems a bit too wide, consider welding or bolting in some extra crossmembers. For materials, the local steel suppliers or trailer fabricators are your go-to options. Just be sure to keep an eye on the overall weight and distribute it evenly over the axles.

Hey thanks for the tips, that makes a lot of sense, especially about reinforcing near the axles. When you added extra crossmembers, did you find welding or bolting worked better for strength and ease?? Also, how did you manage the weight distribution to avoid overloading any part of the trailer?

Hey, everything's still in the planning stages for now,, nothing really worth showing just yet, but i'm hoping to make some real progress soon!

You can eliminate the need to reinforce if you design the frame of the structure properly. It will become chassis' structural part. Best practise now is to use a steel frame but always check because it can make it too heavy.
