Just a quick, sincere reminder to check on your neighbors especially the elderly or those living alone. A quick phone call or a text to make sure they have enough food and heat can literally be a lifesaver when a storm of this magnitude hits. If you know someone who might struggle with shoveling or whose power might go out, please help coordinate some help. Stay safe and warm everyone.

We usually get hit way harder than the town does. I’ve got the generator tested and the woodpile covered up tight. Just hoping the mail can still get through by Monday, but we’re pretty much resigned to being snowed in for a while. Good luck to everyone in the high-wind zones!

I hope you all stay safe in those high-wind areas.

Preparedness is a year-round practice. So stay off the roads, stay indoors, and stay warm. 🙏

Anyone started shoveling snow yet? How thick was it?

I've been housebound 9 days now. There's about 6 inches of ice on the road in front of the house and 2 inches of snow coming in tonight/tomorrow. I got all stocked up before this storm hit and a friend of mine called this morning to see if I needed anything.
I gave him a list that he picked p for me.

Even in his 4 X 4 he got stuck and strangers helped him get unstuck.

I don't know when I'll get the bank of ice removed that has me locked in. Even the Ohio river is frozen over and Tow Boats aren't running now.

My cat is getting Cabin Fever and she gets the "rip's" and chases around the house pouncing on imaginary mice. Then she sleeps for hours at a time. Such entertainment.

Yeah, lots of cars stuck out there. Dogs and cats are not happy they can't go out.

Our weather man is forecasting that this coming Sunday (day after valentines day) that all of this snow will melt and b gone. If that's the case I'll have been snowed in and not been out of the house for 20 days. The Ohio River is still frozen over and it's fun watching the ducks and geese fly in for a landing and skid 50 feet to a stop. Their idea of Olympic ice skating I guess.

I have plenty of supplies and stable power. They claim they will deliver more Propane before I run out. I hope.

So far I have 8 inches of snow on top of 3 inches of ice.

Ugh! 8 inches of snow! But the way you described the ducks and geese Olympics had me laughing.
