I was watching a documentary filmed in Toronto, Canada last night titled "Someone Lives Here". It related t;he story of a young carpenter building very small homes for the homeless. Think "micro homes". (some people in the past have referred to such structures as "Bum Boxes")
The structures remind me more of an Ice Fishing Hut like the fishermen use in the winter.
Ironically some in the city government approached him with a positive attitude and wanted to work with him. Later other departments of the city government wanted to bring law suits against him to cease & desist.
What i found interesting in this was these tiny homes were super insulated to where one's own body heat was all that would be needed to heat the home. INTERESTING !
What may have made these homes more acceptable to the "disapproving" public would have been some graphics treatment to the exterior. Thus making them appear to be more a manufactured good. (opposed to being a owner built shack)
I think anyone interested in a Tiny House would be wise to watch this 45 minute TV Show.
Building one on a trailer has been a hedge against some of the issues that you will see in this documentary. It negates the argument that this is a permanent structure that will likely fall into disrepair quickly.
